Prosecutors file to send corrupt commissioner to prison

JEFFERSON COUNTY, ALA. (WBRC) - Federal prosecutors filed documents this week to send former Jefferson County commissioner to prison for a corruption conviction.

Chris McNair, 85, was convicted for accepting bribes in return for giving millions of dollars in sewer construction work to his friends.  The U.S. Supreme Court has refused to hear McNair's appeal.

Attorneys have asked a judge to set a date to send McNair, who has been reported to be in poor health lately, to prison.
