Red Cross blood drives at UAB all week long

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - The American Red Cross will be on campus at UAB all week long for a major blood drive they've dubbed "I bleed UAB Green." Although blood donations are always needed, this drive comes at an especially vital time for collections.

The Alabama Region of the American Red Cross estimates that the winter's frequent bad weather caused a shortage of 800 units of blood. The Red Cross is hoping this week's drive will bring in 348 units of blood to help offset that shortage and boost donations before the summer's usual decrease in donations due to vacation and travel.

Check out the list below to find out where and when to donate around UAB's campus. To schedule an appointment to give blood, visit www.redcrossblood.org and use the sponsor codes below for the specific sites.
