Science and hip hop collide in FMA's performances

NORTHPORT, AL (WBRC) - A dance crew that calls itself FMA, short for Newton's second law of motion "force = mass x acceleration," is using hip hop to encourage the next generation of scientists.

The crew performed dance routines and skits at Northport's Echols Middle School today. FMA is spending 10 weeks travelling across the country to show kids how math, science and technology can be fun.

"We're here at Echols Middle School…to get kids thinking about science in a different way and that it can be fun and educational," said performer Eric Olson.

FMA's next stop will be in Memphis, Tenn.
