Louisiana Escapees Captured in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC-TV)- Two escapees on the run for over a week were captured in Memphis Tennessee Monday afternoon.  Rickey Wedgeworth, 36, and Darian Pierce, 33, were captured Monday after they crashed a vehicle following a police chase.  The two were spotted early Monday at a park outside Jackson Tennessee.  The pair had reportedly tied up two park workers and stolen thier state vehicle.  Wedgeworth and Pierce were spotted in the vehicle by Desoto Sherriff Deputies.  The were chased into Memphis where they were apprehended.  They are also suspected in the carjacking and death of David Michael Cupps, 53 of Ohio, and dumping his body in Bessemer, Alabama.  The two escaped from a police trustee camp on March 4th.  Pierce is from Bogalusa, La., and is serving time for attempted second degree murder. Wedgeworth is from Memphis and is serving time for armed robbery.
