Wells Fargo robbery suspect identified

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) – The Birmingham Police Department has identified a man who they say robbed a bank on March 14th.

44-year-old Steven Walters of Hueytown is now facing a 1st Degree Robbery charge.

Captain Henry Irby with Birmingham PD says the Wells Fargo Bank at 1st Avenue North was robbed around 12:10 p.m. There were no injuries during the robbery and an undisclosed amount of cash was taken.

Three men were taken into custody a short time later at the Piggly Wiggly located on 6501 1st Avenue North. The money was recovered. Two men of the men were later released.

The robbery is still under investigation.
