Police release photo of suspicious package found at airport

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) – Police have released a photograph of the suspicious package that caused an evacuation of Birmingham-Shuttlesworth Airport on Sunday.

Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper says the package was found in a vehicle by a valet parking attendant. The attendant notified police upon its discovery and officers closed and evacuated the airport.

The bomb squad detonated the device and found it to be smoke bombs taped together. The owner of the package says it was a prop from a movie.

Roper says police interviewed the vehicle's owner and found him to have no evil intentions.
