BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - On Tuesday morning, Birmingham police say they had to use tear gas to get a burglary suspect out of a home.
More than a dozen officers worked the scene on the 1300 block of 23rd Avenue North. It happened around 7:30 a.m.
Investigators say the man was hiding in the home's attic and they had to use tear gas to flush him out of the attic.
Witnesses tell FOX6 News that the man then tried to fight off officers with a golf club before surrendering.
Police say the suspect admitted to trying to steal copper from the home.
