Missing vet found alive in North Carolina

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - The wheelchair-bound Vietnam veteran who has been missing for over a week, 65-year-old Michael Campbell, has been found alive in North Carolina. A former Navy S.E.A.L, Campbell helped homeless veterans in the Woodlawn area as a program manager for the ministry Three Hots and a Cot, part of the St. Benedict's Veterans Center.

Monday morning Campbell called Three Hots and a Cot to let his friends, co-workers and fellow veterans know he was OK and is seeking alternative treatment for his C.O.P.D. at an Indian reservation.

Campbell had been missing since early in the morning of Saturday, Feb. 19. Charles Wood with St. Benedict's Veterans Center said he's "very relieved" to hear that his friend is OK, but a little bothered that he didn't tell anyone that he would be traveling north.
