MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA (WBRC) – You could soon find yourself watching your favorite teams over the internet instead of your TV. An article on CNN.com is reporting that video site YouTube.com may be getting a shot at streaming live sports.
YouTube, known for its user-created content, recently saw success when they began live-streaming Indian Premier League Cricket Games. Business Week has estimated the streaming has brought in 55 million visits to the site from more than 250 countries.
According to the article, YouTube execs are in talks with the National Basketball Association and the National Hockey League to live broadcast their games. An update says the NHL is denying this claim.
Google, the owner of YouTube, is also said to be talking with other pro sports leagues and soccer leagues in Europe.
