AUBURN, ALABAMA (WBRC) - Auburn fans and a few Alabama fans gathered at Toomer's corner in Auburn today for the Toomer's Tree Hug event. Student organizers made it clear they weren't here to actually hug the tree but to show support for the trees and the tradition behind it. Many fans say it was a time for the Auburn family to come together and begin the healing process. Some left flowers and rolls of toilet paper at the base of the tree with get well messages. It was an afternoon of reminiscing and picture taking while the trees are still standing tall and organizer say they are happy with how it turned out. Alabama fan Harvey Almorn Updyke is out of jail tonight charged with trying to kill the 130 year old Oaks with herbicide.
