Birmingham School Board members involve police after incident

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - An alleged argument between members of the Birmingham School Board is in the hands of police.

School board members Brian Giattina and W.J. Maye filed police reports against board member Tyrone Belcher about an incident during a closed-door meeting last Tuesday.

At the time, board members were discussing the proposal to hire teachers from the "Teach for America Program."

Belcher's attorney issued a statement Tuesday, saying:

"Mr. Belcher vehemently denies engaging in any activity that would warrant the filing of a criminal complaint against him."

FOX6 News spoke to Maye, who would only tell us he does not plan to press charges.
