Commission president: sewer debt solution up to 2 years away

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - The president of the Jefferson County Commission said Wednesday a solution to the county's sewer debt crisis could be up to two years away.

During a commission meeting Tuesday, Commission President David Carrington discussed a recent meeting with JP Morgan liquidity banks bond insurers. Two of the commissioners met with the insurers last week.

Carrington said the insurers would prefer to settle the debts in four to six months, but he said the county must get audits for 2008, 2009 and 2010 before that happen.  Carrington said he believes that will delay any possible solution to the debt crisis from 18 to 24 months.
