McGregor sources deny threats to FBI

BIRMINGHAM (WBRC) - A federal judge has set a hearing date for Victoryland owner Milton McGregor to determine if conditions of his release should be eased.

McGregor has asked permission to remove his ankle monitoring device. Federal prosecutors demanded the bracelet after McGregor allegedly threatened FBI agents the day of his arrest on bribery and conspiracy charges to pass an electronic bingo bill.

Attorneys for McGregor say the device is interfering with their client's sleep and adding to his hypertension problem.

In sworn affidavits from McGregor's wife and head of security, they deny McGregor threatened anyone.

The hearing is set for February 1.
