PAWNEE HEIGHTS, AL (WBRC) - The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating the county's first homicide of 2011 which occurred Wednesday night. Around 10 p.m., the sheriff's office responded to a report of gunshots in the Pawnee Heights area. When they arrived to the 4300 block of Indian Valley Road, they found Michael Lee Terry, a 23-year-old from Birmingham, dead on a roadway. Terry died from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.
Around midnight, officers discovered a white 2007 Lexus that was reportedly driven by Terry earlier that night abandoned on Cherry Avenue in the Forestdale area.
No suspects or vehicles were seen leaving the area. Anyone who has information about this death is urged to call the Sheriff's Office at 205-325-1450.
