Gov. Riley honored in Cullman

CULLMAN (WBRC) - Governor Bob Riley was honored at a banquet in Cullman Wednesday and several hundred people cheered the governor for his many accomplishments while in office.

Among those, his efforts to bring thousands of new jobs due to the continuous luring of international automobile companies. The governor said 54 different German companies now operate out of Alabama.

Wednesday he said he expects to announce the arrival of a new Airbus supply plant in Mobile in February.

Riley is very happy that his decision to hold a special session dealing solely with ethics reform is a resounding success.

He cited too many politicians who have been lured by business people who illegally paid political leaders in exchange for lucrative business deals, since the indictments and convictions of both politicians and business operators.

The governor says the last eight years have been very enjoyable, and he's now looking forward to delving into new projects.
