ORLANDO, FL (WBRC) - The Alabama Crimson Tide dominated Michigan State Saturday in the Capital One Bowl in Orlando.
Alabama (10-3) controlled both sides of the ball over Michigan State (11-2) who gave up more than 500 yards to Alabama.
The scoring began in the first quarter, when Alabama running back Mark Ingram rushed for one yard. Ingram scored a second touchdown in the second quarter.
Trent Richardson also scored a touchdown in the second quarter, as did Julio Jones who caught a 35 yard pass for a touchdown shortly before halftime.
The scoring continued in the third quarter when Greg McElroy completed a 37-yard pass to Marquis Maze. Eddie Lacy then scored the next two touchdowns for Alabama, including a 62-yard rush with 8:58 remaining in the game.
Michigan State did not score until late in the fourth quarter when Keith Nichol completed a 49-yard touchdown pass to Bennie Fowler.
Alabama ended the day with 546 yards of total offense, including 271 yards passing and 275 yards rushing. Michigan State only had 171 yards total offense, including -48 yards rushing.
Alabama had 25 first downs while Michigan State had 12.
Alabama was penalized three times for 25 yards. Michigan State was penalized eight times for 45 yards.
Alabama had no turnovers. Michigan State had one turnover.
Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy completed 13 of his 17 pass attempts, throwing for 220 yards and one touchdown. Mark Ingram had 12 carries for 59 yards, Trent Richardson had 10 carries for 42 yards, and Eddie Lacy had five carries for 86 yards. Marquis Maze had four receptions for 77 yards, Preston Dial had four receptions for 55 yards, and Julio Jones had three receptions for 49 yards.
