Toy drive collects gifts for Hispanic children

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - A couple of businesses in Pelham are collecting gifts for Hispanic children who celebrate the holiday "Dia De Los Reyes," or "Three Kings Day."

Joel and Isabel Rivera, owners of Rivera Communications and the Mi Pueblo supermarkets in Pelham, Clanton and Homewood, have been collecting toys for local Hispanic families who would not otherwise be able to afford gifts for Dia De Los Reyes. So far more than 900 toys have been donated from the community, but the Riveras are hoping to reach their goal of 1,000.

The gift drive will continue until Dec. 31. You can drop off a toy at the Pelham Mi Pueblo supermarket at 3010 Pelham Parkway or the Rivera Communications office at 100 Yeager Parkway in Pelham. The toys will be distributed Jan. 5 and 6 to needy Hispanic children across Alabama.
