Suspect in custody in connection with two Birmingham murders

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - A 34-year-old man is in police custody in connection with the murder of two men in Birmingham, after five people have been murdered in the last three days.

Investigators want to know if some of the killings are related as three of the five murders have happened on the southwest side of the city.

The most recent body was found on Carver Avenue Wednesday morning. The man was unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound. Investigators say the victim, who appears to be a Hispanic man, died on the scene.

The second victim was found Tuesday evening in Midfield near the Birmingham city line on Hartmann Industrial Road. The murder investigation is being handled by Midfield Police. On Tuesday, officers responded to a truck that was on fire and they found a woman's body nearby.

The first victim was found early Tuesday morning on Ishkooda Road. The victim was a well dressed Hispanic man. His body was dumped in the area of Ishkooda Road and 22nd Street Southwest.
