Riley leaving office with execution-heavy record

MONTGOMERY, AL (WBRC) - When Governor Riley leaves office next month, his two terms in office will have seen 24 inmate executions. It is the most under any Alabama governor since Frank Dixon served from 1939 to 1943.

The most under a two term governor is Bibb Graves with 49.

Governor Riley says the days and hours leading up to an execution are hard and that any governor takes the responsibility "very seriously."
