Two killed in morning shooting at Birmingham nail salon

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Police are investigating a shooting that left the owner of a nail salon and his wife dead on Monday.

The bodies of the the Jacky Nguyen, 60, and his common law wife, Nhut Phan, 50, were found dead Monday morning inside Top Perfect Nails salon on Bessemer Road.  Birmingham Police say a customer and an employee found the bodies Monday morning.

Many who work and live in the area watched as the police officers began their investigation. Most say they were shocked by the two murders.

"People whoever they were. Doing something trying to take something that's not theirs. Especially got to kill somebody to get it," Mary Fluker said.

The police department says they are not sure if robbery was a motive or not. Family and employees of the victims also gathered at the crime scene. At one point a vehicle parked at the strip mall was taken by a wrecker to be checked for clues. The public is also being asked to help if they can.

"If anyone saw anyone leave this area in a vehicle. Any time between eight this morning and may be late afternoon yesterday. We are hoping you can call us and let us know what they say," Birmingham Police Sgt. Johnny Williams said.

Meanwhile customers of the nail salon hope the killer or killers are found soon.

"Panicky. I'm panicky. Here I come to get my feet and nails done and this. It's just a sad day," Jueween Cox.

Anyone who may have seen someone leaving the location or has any information on the shooting is urged to call Birmingham Police.
