VESTAVIA HILLS, AL (WBRC) - It was not the Grinch that stole Christmas in Vestavia Hills, but more like frat guys.
According to police, more than a dozen fraternity members from Samford University are responsible for swiping the decorations out of people's front yards.
One Vestavia Hills family had a Santa, a train and a snowman stolen out of their yard.
Police say it was a fraternity prank to see who could snatch the most stuff.
"They were required to return these to each homeowner and then issue an apology," says Samford Dean of Campus Life Renie Moss. "If there was damage, they were requested to make restitution on the spot.
Police say the students still face disciplinary action.
