BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - A Birmingham city councilman wants to give the boot to folks who boot cars.
Councilman Johnathan Austin says he is constantly hearing complaints from Birmingham businesses and restaurants about customers who are surprised to find their cars booted. Austin believes there are bogus booters out there who are charging huge fees and only accepting cash on the spot.
Managers at Jim 'n Nicks say the owners of parking lots near them do not even have signs warning people they could get booted.
"The problem is they are not appropriately marked and people come in unknowingly and get their car booted," said Jonathan Rossum with Jim 'n Nicks.
