Homeowner captures man who broke into his truck

BIRMINGHAM,AL (WBRC) - A homeowner in Western Jefferson County caught a man breaking into his truck early this morning and held him until Sheriff's Deputies arrived on the scene. Deputies were called out to the 4300 block of Jim Tate Road around 5:55am after the homeowners daughter called 911. According to the caller, her father had been awakened by dogs barking. The man looked outside and saw the suspect sitting in his truck. The suspect attempted to flee but, was tackled and held by the homeowner until Deputies arrived.  When Deputies arrived and took custody of the suspect, he began to fight with them in an effort to escape. Deputies managed to subdue and handcuff him.  After being arrested the suspect was found to be in possession of a contolled substance. The suspect 18 year old Joshua Trey Watkins of Dora is charged with unlawful breaking and entering a vehicle with $10,000 bond, resisting arrest $5000 bond, and unlawful possesion of a controlled substance with a $15,000 bond.
