BESSEMER, AL (WBRC) - More than 200 steelworkers at the U.S. Pipe plant in Bessemer continue their strike on Monday morning. The strike comes after union workers voted to reject the company's work contract.
The union's contract with U.S. Pipe ended back at the first of November, but they agreed to an extension. That extension ended Saturday.
Workers say concerns over seniority, healthcare and pensions have kept steelworkers from accepting a new contract.
Workers in other unions at the U.S. Pipe Bessemer plant are still on the job, under a new contract or still under extension.
