Walker County residents tired of bad tasting water

CORDOVA, AL (WBRC) - Walker County residents say they are sick of funny tasting drinking water and they are fighting back.

At a meeting Tuesday in Cordova, residents said they noticed their tap water smelled and tasted funny. Some believe the runoff from are strip mines is the cause of the problem. Residents say this is yet another reason they oppose the development of more mines along the warrior river.

"These folks are concerned about it. They have had clean drinking water they demand clean drinking water," said organizer Randy Palmer. "We don't want it any other way. There is a health and welfare issue here."

Members of the group "Citizens Opposed to Strip Mining on the Black Warrior River" say they will continue to fight to keep more mines from Moving into the area.
