State troopers release numbers from holiday blitz

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - It was a busy holiday weekend for state troopers in Alabama.
Troopers say six deaths were reported on state roads from last Wednesday through Monday night. Five of the deadly crashes were alcohol related. None of the victims were wearing seat belts.

State troopers say they wrote 3,100 speeding tickets and made nearly 150 DUI arrests during the same period as part of the Take Back our Highways Campaign.
