HUNTSVILLE, AL (WBRC) - An Alabama National Guard unit made it home just in time for Thanksgiving this year. About 40 soldiers from the Guard's 441st Ordnance Battalion returned to Huntsville on Wednesday after being stationed in Iraq.
The unit served as the command and control group for five army explosive ordnance disposal companies in Iraq. They also coordinated two Air Force flights performing similar work and they helped train and assist Iraqi security forces dealing with improvised explosive devices.
