Murder/rape suspect returned to Tuscaloosa

TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) - A murder suspect is back in Tuscaloosa to face charges.

Authorities booked Ellis Patton into the Tuscaloosa County Jail on Sunday. He is accused of raping two women and killing one of them nearly a month ago.

Police were called to the home of Angela Lavender last month. They found her body on the couch. They say after Ellis killed Lavender, he went upstairs and assaulted her friend in front of her daughter.

Patton fled to Jackson, Florida and Cleveland, Ohio before eventually turning himself in.
