Candlelight vigil held for murder victim

PLEASANT GROVE, AL (WBRC) - A candlelight vigil was held in memory of a Birmingham murder victim on Sunday night.

Clifford Whitely was shot and killed on Felix Avenue Wednesday night. Whitely was a student at Lawson State and was the father of an eight-month-old son.

Mourners gathered in Pleasant Grove to remember him.

"Let's not take life for granted," said family friend Felecia Ward. "You can be here today, gone tomorrow. So live, love, and be happy. That's what we wanted to portray here tonight."

Birmingham police have arrested Tommie Williams in connection with the murder. Five suspects were arrested with Williams on other charges, including Shaunasty Lowe, who was recently acquitted in an unrelated quadruple murder case.
