Tuscaloosa prepares for its first Thursday night game

TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) - Classes are cancelled on the University of Alabama's campus because of the Thursday night game against Georgia State. Tuscaloosa City Schools will begin dismissing early on a staggered schedule from 11:30 a.m. to 12:50 p.m.
This is the first time Alabama will play on Thursday night in Tuscaloosa. Downtown Tuscaloosa businesses are not sure if they will see much of a bump in sales, but they do wonder how traffic and parking will be affected.

City Hall closes at 2 p.m. That should free up parking at free lots in downtown including the parking deck at the intermodal facility.

Police say between 2:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., you could start seeing changes as far as blocking off streets and redirecting traffic for the football game.
The city clerk says since it is a Thursday night game, after 2 o'clock, you can park in spaces along city streets and not get ticketed. Normally those spaces are limited to 2 hours.
