David Platt discusses his 'radical experiment'

By Rick Journey

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Four years ago, David Platt became the pastor of the 4,000 member Church at Brook Hills. He was 27 years old at the time and was billed as the youngest pastor of a mega-church... ever.

Platt, in an interview with FOX6 News anchor Rick Journey, says he had a "crisis of belief."

That crisis led to the Radical Experiment. The church downsized the budget to give more to missions and anti-poverty programs and many members downsized to move into the inner-city.

Platt says the teachings of Jesus don't mesh with our belief in the American Dream.

The experiment became a much-talked about best-selling book. 'Radical' has sold half a million copies and has sparked a conversation about the direction of the modern day Christian church.
