TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) - By Kelvin Reynolds
TUSCALOOSA (WBRC) - This week of Veteran's Day, the University of Alabama is recognizing more than 325 former football players and coaches who served during World War II.
Their impact is hailed in a new book called "When Winning Was Everything". It follows 60 of those men during the war.
Today, a ceremony was held in their honor at the Bryant Museum. One of them, 83 year-old Howard Pierson, talked at length about his time at Alabama and how what he learned as a player helped in wartime.
About a dozen of the men listed in the book are being recognized during a pregame ceremony before the Alabama Miss. St. game Saturday.
