JEMISON, AL (WBRC) - A 10-year-old girl was in the hospital Thursday recovering from what authorities said were "very critical" injuries after being hit Wednesday night by a car.
The accident happened on County Road 42 near the Dollar General store in Jemison. Police chief Shane Fulmer said a 10-year-old girl was playing with friends when she was hit by a car as she ran across the road towards her house.
"It was a horrible, tragic incident," Fulmer said.
Chief Fulmer said the child was airlifted to Children's Hospital in Birmingham where she was listed in critical condition in intensive care.
