Second man arrested in Forestdale Jet Pep murder

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - A second man has been arrested in connection with the September murder of a clerk at the Jet Pep in Forestdale.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department said Robert Lee Mitchell, Jr., surrendered Friday night to authorities. He was wanted in connection with the death of Saumil "Don" Patel.  Patel was killed September 12 during a robbery of the Jet Pep on Highway 78 in Forestdale.

Mitchell's surrender happened one day after Willie Deon Brown, Jr., 29, was arrested and charged with capital murder in the Patel's death. Patel was arrested Thursday with the help of U.S. Marshals at a Chevron station on 1st Avenue North in Birmingham.
