High voter turnout over wet/dry referendum in Cullman

By Ty Watwood

CULLMAN, AL (WBRC) - High voter turnout in the City of Cullman Tuesday could be due to the city's wet/dry referendum.

At the Cullman Civic Center precinct, over 500 people had already cast a ballot by 9 a.m., with dozens more waiting in line.

Cullman residents are actually having to show identification twice and cast two ballots; one for the wet/dry referendum and the other for the general election.

Tuesday's wet/dry vote is the latest in a series of alcohol referendums within the past 25 years.  Every time, voters have rejected alcohol sales.
