BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - A lawsuit filed by former Birmingham city councilman Jimmy Blake seeks to kick republican gubernatorial candidate Robert Bentley off the ballot in Tuesday's election.
The suit accuses Bentley of violating Alabama's Fair Campaign Practices Act. The suit stems from allegations that the Bentley campaign failed to disclose in-kind contributions from the Alabama Education Association.
Blake is asking a Jefferson County Judge to either remove Bentley's name from the ballot, stop the election until a replacement candidate can be named, or refuse to certify Bentley as the winner if he gets more votes than democrat Ron Sparks.
