BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) – The Birmingham Police Department says a suspect has been taken into custody in connection to a double murder and arson discovered on Wednesday.
47-year-old Edward Eugene Williams has been taken into custody by U.S. Marshals in Michigan. He is accused of the double murder of 56-year-old Frank Lee Webster and an individual who has not yet been positively identified.
The murders were discovered when Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded to a house fire on Laurel Avenue in Birmingham. Firefighters alerted police to two deceased victims inside of the home near the back door. Investigators found one of the bodies to have been stabbed and both to be wrapped in rugs.
Williams has been charged with two counts of capital murder, one count of arson and one count of attempted murder.
