MONTGOMERY, AL (WBRC) - Two attorneys who helped former HealthSouth CEO Richard Scrushy get acquitted on fraud charges have been hired to represent a state senator facing political corruption charges.

Jim Parkman and Martin Adams are a part of the legal team for Slocumb Senator Harri Ann Smith. Smith, along with three other lawmakers, three lobbyists and two electronic bingo operators have been indicted. They are accused of working in a conspiracy to accept bribes in return for backing legislation legalizing electronic bingo.

Former Attorney General and Lt. Governor Bill Baxley will be representing Montgomery lobbyist Tom Coker.

Attorneys for Victoryland owner Milton McGregor are set to hold a briefing for the media on their case Thursday evening in Montgomery.

All eleven defendants will be in federal court in Montgomery again on Friday for an arraignment.
