BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - The Birmingham City Council will pick up talks again about the future of firefighters' pay.
Cuts in the firefighters' checks have come after the city says they were forced to fix an error from a previous administration.
It is a complicated issue with a lot of emotion involved for the firefighters and their families. The city says they had to make the pay adjustments to correct an error made by a prior administration. Firefighters say since the cuts, many have been struggling.
On Tuesday, firefighters showed up to the city council meeting to plea with members to reconsider the cuts. Union President Don Baker says after deductions like insurance, 401k, mortgage payments and other normal expenses some firefighters are bringing home less than 100 dollars a month.
Wednesday's meeting starts at 2:00 p.m. Stay with FOX6 News and we will make sure to keep you posted on any updates.
