Judge denies McGregor plea to seal evidence

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - A federal judge on Tuesday refused to seal any future evidence in the bingo gambling corruption case against VictoryLand owner Milton McGregor.

In a ruling issued Tuesday, Judge Wallace Capel, Jr. refused to seal any new evidence in the case. Attorneys for McGregor sought to seal future evidence and allegations, claiming they would prejudice a future jury pool.

The electronic bingo operator was indicted last week on bribery and conspiracy charges. McGregor, along with Country Crossing owner Ronnie Gilley, were accused of bribery of four state lawmakers to pass legislation which could legalize electronic bingo.
