JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL (WBRC) - A showdown is expected at the Jefferson County commission, this week. Commissioners are expected to vote on selling the county owned nursing home.
Commissioner George Bowman, who oversees the Jefferson County Rehabilitation and Health Center, opposes any move to sell it at this time.
Commission President Bettye Fine Collins and Commissioner Bobby Humphryes are in favor of the sale. Collins calls the home a financial drain on the county.
So far, only one potential buyer has submitted a plan.
