Airman to be laid to rest, radical group threatens protests

HALEYVILLE, AL (WBRC) - Family and friends will say goodbye Friday to an Alabama airman killed in combat.

29-year-old Senior Airman Mark Forester was killed in Afghanistan last week. A funeral will take place in Haleyville where he grew up. The service will be at the Haleyville High  gymnasium.

There is an e-mail circulating that says members of the Westboro Baptist Church plan to attend Forester's funeral. This is the group that protests at military funerals claiming that U.S. deaths in Afghanistan and Iraq are punishment for what they call America's immorality.

The U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments on a lawsuit against the church Wednesday

This type of e-mail goes out for every military funeral, but the protesters rarely show up.
