GADSDEN, AL (WBRC) - A high ranking city official in Gadsden is in the Etowah County Jail on unknown charges.

Eugene Harrell is listed as being held in the Etowah County Detention Facility on no bond.  Harrell is the Superintendent of City Services in Gadsden City Hall, and previously worked as Public Works director.

The detention facility said Harrell was being held in the jail for an unmamed agency.  Authorities would not say Tuesday night what agency wanted Harrell or why he was arrested.
