BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - After a win against Arkansas, the excitement over Bama football is intense. Fans are looking forward to another win on Saturday against Florida and sparing no expense when it comes to tickets for the game.
Tickets are in high demand because it's such a huge game the two teams are SEC rivals.
Alabama hopes for a repeat of last year and paying hundreds of dollars to go to the game and see it happen in person.
Online ticket marketplace, "Stub Hub," reports the Florida/Alabama game is the second highest grossing college football game this week. Fans have paid as low as $100 and as high as a little more than $1,000 for tickets. The average price paid for a ticket is $340.
Fans we spoke to say they expected tickets to be high, but not that high.
If you are going to the game expect to see a lot of Gator fans at Bryant Denny Stadium also looking for a victory.
Joellen Ferrer, spokesperson for Stub Hun says, "We are seeing Alabama buyers are out numbering Florida buyers by 2 to 1. But this is a close ratio. Typically for games the ratio is 5 to 1. It's a high contingency of Florida buyers."
Alabama fan, Trent Catron says, "It's unreal. I haven't heard of tickets going for that much I know some have in the past. Looking at economy right now, if you can do it go right ahead."
The spokesperson for "Stub Hub" says they have about 2,000 tickets left and they are continuing to sell.
Of course, the better the seat, the more expensive the ticket will be.
There's always a threat of counterfeit tickets. So folks are asked to be careful about where to tickets.
