Volunteers to clean up Village Creek

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) – Volunteers in Ensley will soon be making the area a much cleaner place.

The fifth annual Village Creek cleanup began on Wednesday and is set to finish on Saturday. Anyone interested in volunteering can meet at Avenue M and 11th Street at Moro Park in Ensley. Lunch will be served after the cleanup.

The Village Creek Society boasts 10.5 tons of trash and debris removed from the creek in 2009 and 45 tons removed since 2006.
