HOOVER, AL (WBRC) - A Chelsea man has been arrested for trying to rob a pharmacy of prescription medication.
Hoover Police, in a statement Tuesday afternoon to FOX6 News, said William Carl O'Shields, 56, entered the CVS Pharmacy at Inverness Corners on Tuesday and demanded prescription medication. When the pharmacy employee declined, police said O'Shields stated, "this is a robbery."
The suspect then left the store without receiving any medication.
Hoover Police said one of its officers saw the suspect walking across the parking lot at the same time he was dispatched to the call. The officer blocked the suspect's vehicle from leaving and arrested the suspect without incident.
Police said no weapon was displayed inside the pharmacy, but O'Shields did have a pocket knife in his possession.
O'Shields was being held in the Hoover City Jail on $60,000 bond.
