FORESTDALE, AL (WBRC) - The Forestdale Fire Department is looking for ways to climb out of a $100,000 financial hole.
Thursday, members of the fire district's board of trustees met with firefighters to discuss options for fixing the problem. Several suggestions were offered, including cutting firefighter's pay or laying off staff.
However, board president Marvin Fletcher said layoffs will be the last option.
The board said it is also considering increasing fire dues by $56 per household.
An emergency meeting is scheduled for Monday night to further discuss the situation.
