Tuscaloosa cyclist struck and killed

TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) - Tuscaloosa authorities say a crash killed a man riding a bicycle and sent a man driving a car to the hospital with injuries. It happened just before dawn on Joe Mallisham Parkway and 21st Street near the BF Goodrich plant.

Emergency crews were called to the scene at 5:50 a.m. on Wednesday. The car was headed north towards the toll bridge and the bicyclist was turning left off 21st Street towards the interstate. Witnesses say the man on the bicycle pulled in front of the car and was struck.

Capt. Loyd Baker of the Tuscaloosa Metro Homicide Unit says the man on the bicycle died at the scene. They are not releasing his name, but identify him as a Tuscaloosa man in his 60's. The man driving the car is 61 years-old. They are not releasing his name, either.
