PELHAM, AL (WBRC) - The Alabama State Fair wrapped up on Labor Day and officials say 2010 was one of the most successful years to date.
After a rainy start, the fair ended on a good note with record Labor Day crowds. Officials think many people stayed at home for the holiday weekend and wanted to take advantage of the great fair food and entertainment.
Fairgoers agree they enjoyed spending their holiday weekend with their families. "It's nice to have a day off from school and kids can come out during the day, and it's a good place to have family fun," said Heather Taylor.
Fair officials are already working on the dates for next year's event. Currently, they are thinking about holding it at the same as this year's fair.
