Former commissioner McNair to remain free during appeal

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL (WBRC) - Former Jefferson County Commissioner Chris McNair will remain free on bond instead of having to report to federal prison during his appeal process.

In 2006, McNair was convicted of bribery and conspiracy to solicit bribes for a county sewer project. His attorney, Doug Jones, says the 84-year-old suffers mental and emotional problems from a previous stroke.
